RHA FTA Fuel Card – making every penny count
Since its launch on Friday 1 March, members of the Road Haulage Association and Freight Transport Association have had exclusive access to discounted fuel through a new joint venture with The Fuelcard Company.

At a time when fuel represents nearly 40 per cent of haulier’s operator’s costs, it is essential that every penny is made to count. The RHA FTA Fuel Card utilises The Fuelcard Company’s online fuel management systems ensuring that operators can keep a careful eye on exactly how every penny has been spent. And with all transactions listed on a single, VAT approved EU 6th Directive compliant e-invoice, it means not only an end to piles of receipts and cash claims, drivers don’t need to carry cash which in turn, reduces risk of loss or theft.

All cards are linked specifically to the company, driver or vehicle and Zero Liability protection is available as an optional extra, so none of the hidden costs usually associated with lost or stolen fuel cards. [1]

The new RHA FTA Fuel Card can be used at over 1,600 sites, nationwide. Members will receive a weekly fixed price, either by email or text, based on the bulk fuel market. This could mean savings of over £50,000 per year on the national pump price. [2]

The card is free for the first year and there’s no contract to sign. And, in the unlikely event that the user decides that the RHA FTA Fuel Card just isn’t for them, there will be no cancellation fee to pay.

Members will also have access to The Fuelcard Company’s smartphone app so drivers can always find a fuel station. In addition, the online site locator www.rhafuel.co.uk / www.ftafuel.co.uk gives the option to download fuel site info straight to a driver’s sat nav.

The Road Haulage Association, the Freight Transport Association and The Fuelcard Company are all firm supporters of the national FairFuelUK campaign which has successfully fought off every proposed rise in fuel duty since its inception in 2011.

National spokesman for FairFuelUK, renowned motoring journalist Quentin Willson said, ‘The Fuelcard Company, the RHA and FTA have backed our attempts to get a fairer deal on fuel duty almost from day one. Without them and the other backers, the campaign wouldn’t exist. I’m delighted that they have now joined forces to offer a really practical way of helping fleet users to save vital pennies on retail prices’.

Peter Carroll, founder of FairFuelUK added, ‘Having run a UK based haulage firm myself, I know that fuel costs in the sector are the number one priority for operators. I wish all three organisations the very best in making a success of this new card’.

Further information on the RHA FTA Fuel Card, including details on how to sign up, can be found at www.rhafuel.co.uk or by calling 0844 415 7666.
