    The government have recently updated their disabled parking scheme, meaning those with “hidden disabilities” such as mental health conditions will now be able to access disabled parking spaces if they apply for a blue badge. While some consider this a progressive step for those with mental disabilities, others are concerned it will decrease the amount of spaces available for those who are physically disabled.

    UK haulage industry – no deal, no jobs, no food

    On Tuesday 24 July, MPs in the House of Commons often repeated ‘no deal is better than a bad deal’ while discussing the terms of Brexit.
    However, where those of the RHA (Road Haulage Association) are concerned, which now consists of over 7000 members, this could prove to be problematic for the haulage industry. The RHA’s members represent almost 50% of the UK’s 496,000 HGV drivers, as well as the UK haulage industry as a whole, while Brexit talks continue, they explain that the concept of a Brexit without a trade deal could be a catastrophe for UK trade as a whole.

    Local residents in a historic village within Suffolk have found themselves in an annoyance regarding a HGV limit set to be put in place to stop lorries travelling through this route. Suffolk County Council approved a limit of 7.5 tonnes on Water Lane in Lavenham in 2017, but with no action taken, villagers are demanding for a faster response.

    A man in Michigan, USA found himself on the edge of a bridge, in an effort to attempt suicide. A group of lorry drivers were called in by the police force to drive to the bridge’s location. The drivers were escorted into the blocked off road, they then parked underneath the bridge, so that if he decided to jump he would land on one of their containers, saving his life.
